Corberán: “The demands will be at the highest level”

The Valencia CF coach previews the game against RCD Espanyol
Valencia CF coach Carlos Corberán, talked to the media ahead of the Matchday 33 contest at Mestalla against RCD Espanyol.
The match
“It's going to be very demanding for several reasons, including the fact that we're coming off a recent game, and there's very little recovery time between games. The opposition played the night before, and that makes the demands, from a physical perspective, very high. Then, it’s also demanding because of the opponent's level. They've earned 23 points in 2025 and have won with clean sheets. The demands will be at the highest level.”
Enzo Barrenechea
“He's trained normally, recovered well from his injury, and is in perfect condition for tomorrow.”
LALIGA’s competitiveness
“My analysis is that each matchday tells us that every team is capable of beating anyone, regardless of their positions. It confirms what we're saying: we're still fighting, and our goal hasn't been achieved yet. Tomorrow's match is very important. We've prepared for it, the group have recovered, and they are eager.”
The objective
“We haven't achieved our objective yet; we're still in that fight, and we still have 18 points up for grabs. I'm not one to make calculations or predictions. LALIGA is showing us that all teams are scoring points now. That's the reality, and we have to be cautious, clear, and consistent.”
Direct rivals
“More than points or consequences, I value the opponents. As of today, we have the same number of points as RCD Espanyol, and we've played one more game than them. The recent numbers illustrate their form. They're a team that compete very well in every game. We have to be very prepared. It's going to be a very demanding match.”
The forward line
“I'm very happy with the three of them, and how they work every day. Each one of them gives their all. They are very committed, and that's what I value.”
Gayà
“I greatly value what he means to the team, and the contribution he makes in every game is extraordinary. The players, with their efforts, will do more things right or make more errors; that's football, it happens to all of us. His contribution has been tremendous. I'm also seeing growth from Jesús Vazquez, which is what we work for. I'm seeing exceptional work and enormous dedication from everyone.”
Iván Jaime
“He trained in part of the session today. It was his first introductory session. His progress has been good. If he continues like this, we hope he can cut some time off his return date.”
RCD Espanyol
“It takes time and analysis to prepare. That demands a lot from the players. The work they're doing increases the demands of the game, the intensity, and what it will demand of you. Espanyol are in their best form, and we have to give our best defensively and offensively.”
Luis Rioja
“I value him highly. He has a tremendous level of dedication and commitment. His maturity is a huge contribution to the group. He embraces his profession, trains hard and competes every day. Luis's contribution is tremendous in what we're building as a team.”
