Corberán: “We must approach the game with all our ambition”

The Valencia CF coach talks ahead of the match against Girona
Valencia CF coach Carlos Corberán appeared at a press conference ahead of the LaLiga Matchday 28 game against Girona FC at Montilivi.
Players in and out of the squad
“Hamza will travel with the first team; Iván Jaime suffered an injury during training yesterday and is undergoing the necessary tests today; Hugo Duro has continued working on the sidelines; Rioja was unable to complete the week of training normally, but was able to train today and will travel with the team.”
The Spain squad
“I always have the utmost respect for any player's decisions. There are players of ours who play international games. I especially have the utmost respect for the Spanish coach. We greatly appreciate how important Gayà is to us. Having him with us is what makes me most excited, and getting him to perform at his best.”
Mamardashvili
“I really liked his reaction during the second half of the last match. Football is a game of getting things right and errors. Giorgi had both. I understand the debate as to his position, but I'm focused on the work we’re doing, and it's been a completely normal week.”
“It has been an extraordinary week of training for all three goalkeepers. I am very happy about it. Giorgi will play in goal tomorrow.”
Barrenechea
“The keys to positive performance lie in the player himself: his mentality, motivation to grow, and perseverance.”
Away matches
“The path of progress is on track, but we're aware of how much remains to be done to achieve our goals. Tomorrow, the team have to go out there with complete ambition to do that.”
Girona FC
“Last year they had an extraordinary season. They are being compared to that Girona team. They performed a heroic feat. I see Girona as playing some of the best football in the division. All teams have our strengths and weaknesses. My team tomorrow have to be at their most competitive to get closer to our goal.”
Goals conceded
“It's difficult to build an identity in two months. The team are evolving, but I'm aware of the work that remains to be done. Defensive play is one of those aspects we have to continue improving.”
FIFA Rules – Atletico Madrid’s disallowed penalty
“My way of experiencing football is about watching games, analysing behaviours, seeing things I like, solving problems… I live the situation from that perspective, not in terms of the controversy. There are rules and a referee on the pitch to ensure they are followed, as well as an external body that reviews them.”
Hugo Duro
“It's difficult to talk about what will happen. His progress is positive. There's a high probability he'll be back after the international break. Everything depends on how soon he is integrated into the team, to see how he responds.”
