Diego López: "We're going for the win at the Santiago Bernabéu"
The Valencia CF forward spoke to the media in a press conference
Only one game away from the end of the 2018/19 LaLiga season, Valencia CF are in the driving seat in the battle for Champions League qualification.
Their win against Deportivo Alavés, coupled with favourable results that saw both of their rivals for the spot drop points, mean that a win on Matchday 38 would guarantee them the all-important fourth place finish that they have targetted since the turn of the year.
Valencia CF came back from going 0-1 down at Mestalla to win 3-1, upholding their end of the bargain. In a game being held concurrently at the Camp Nou, Getafe lost 2-0 to LaLiga Champions FC Barcelona, whilst at the Wanda Metropolitano Sevilla were held to a 1-1 draw by second placed Atletico Madrid.
They are now level on points with Getafe, with the superior goal average, and two points clear of Sevilla.
The final three-way showdown takes place on Matchday 38, at 4:15pm CEST on Saturday. VCF play Real Valladolid, who sealed top flight survival with a win on the penultimate weekend. Getafe are at home to Villarreal, whilst Sevilla host Athletic Club.
LaLiga table after Matchday 37
4. Valencia CF 58 points
5. Getafe CF 58 points
6. Sevilla FC 56 points
