The Valencia CF coach talks after the 2-2 result against Deportivo Alavés
Valencia CF gave a special welcome to AFC Ajax fans who have made the trip over to Spain to watch the Champions League game between the two teams. A day of activities was set up on Tuesday, including a surprise visit from Hedwiges Maduro -the former player for both clubs.
The fans took the Mestalla Forever Tour in the morning, taking in the stadium and its trophy room, museum, press room and pitch. They were then whisked to the Ciudad Deportiva, where they played a game of football of their own, with the kits of their respective teams.
Crossing paths with Jasper Cillessen, the Valencia CF goalkeeper who also represented Ajax for five seasons, as he arrived for his pre-match press conference, they took pictures with the player and chatted about the game.
After that, it was back to Valencia for a visit to the Amstel Bar Torino, which recreates the legendary scene of Valencia CF's founding in 1919. Appearing there was Hedwiges Maduro, arriving straight from the airport to enjoy the evening with the fans. He was delighted with the unity between the two sets of supporters, and toasted to the hope of both clubs reaching the knockout stages of the Champions League.
