Baraja: "tHE TEAM kePT going AND COMPETED UNTIL THE END"
The Valencia CF coach talks after the 2-2 result against Deportivo Alavés
Omar Alderete is the latest Paraguayan player to become part of the Valencia CF setup. He follows in the footsteps of fellow countryman Roberto Amarilla, who featured on the books at the club in the early 2000s, albeit never making an official appearance.
Still playing and a permanent resident in the Valencia region, Amarilla commented to VCF Media Radio about what he thinks fans can expect from Alderete.
"It is an important challenge for him and it is a good moment in his career for him to come to Valencia CF. Joining as big a club as Valencia CF at the age of 24 is the dream for any footballer, and even more so for those who come from South America. Wearing the Valencia CF shirt is a big thing, and now he has the opportunity to play in one of the best leagues in Europe," said Amarilla.
"Omar did not want to waste any time and was keen to adapt to the team quickly, which says a lot about him and his desire. He knows what to do on the pitch; he is already a complete player and has shown that. Alderete is not going to disappoint, and I am convinced that he will contribute many things and will complement Paulista very well."
The 39 year old added that: "He is the type of player that the fans have always liked. He goes for everything and exerts himself to the fullest. I was talking to my Paraguayan friends who asked me about Alderete and I told them that he was convinced that the fans would like him a lot, because he is going to give everything. Hopefully it goes well and the sooner he integrates, the better."
