Match Report: VCF MESTALLA snatch late win against Nffc FC B (0-1)
oselu's last-gasp goal earned VCF Mestalla the win on Matchday 2 of the Premier League International Cup
Mestalla beat Castellón B on the opening day of the season in group 4 of Tercera RFEF. VCF Mestalla head coach assessed the game on VCF Media highlighting the team’s shift in to claim a hard-fought win.
“I’m really happy, indeed. It’s been a hard-fought win against a well-positioned side which we struggled to break down. We grew into game and we’ve deservedly claimed the win.
The first half it was really tight, although we were enjoying more of the ball. We wanted to be direct, but there were few spaces and the opposition were well-positioned with very tight lines which made it difficult for us to probe.
We were smarter in our decision-making in the second half which forced them into going a man down and we played well with good fitness levels throughout, which was one of the key.
The chances came about, above all on the wings and the key was to have the effectiveness inside the box.
The boys were a bit anxious in the early goings, looking forward to showing what they’re capable of and having a good performance and we were a bit imprecise on the ball and moving it about.
With the scoreline going our way, they felt relieved and this first win is going to be good for us in terms of moral as well as breaking the preseason drawing run after having had good games.
This win is a result of a good work during preseason. I’m happy about the boys’ work besides they’ll continue growing and improving throughout the season.
We’re going to take it game by game to try to pick up as many points as possible both home and away”.
