Enzo Barrenechea, called up by Argentina National Team
Valencia CF player called up to play the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Peru.
Valencia CF president Anil Murthy was part of the group of directors, players and coaching staff that visited the Basílica de la Virgen and the Palau de la Generalitat regional parliamentary headquarters on Monday evening, where they were welcomed by the president of the Valencian Government, Ximo Puig.
He gave a speech to those in attendance, looking back on the club's first Copa del Rey triumph since 2008.
“This past Sunday, I enjoyed an unforgettable experience. Nearly all of Valencia, with people from the city itself and from many other places, welcomed us on the street and filled Mestalla 2 hours before our arrival. It was very emotional to experience such affection towards our team and our club, and to feel such excitement after suffering together in a magnificent season. We're in the Champions League again, amongst the best from Spain and from Europe. The Copa del Rey is back here, after 11 years. Valencia CF are cup winners again," he said in his address.
“I want to thank Peter Lim for his patience, for his confidence in the team and for his complete support for this project and this club, which is so important to thousands upon thousands of people. I want to congratulate our players, our coach and his coaching staff for this achievement. The team showed their maturity to turn their form around. They deserve the affection they are receiving more than ever."
“I also want to thank Mateu Alemany for his friendship and support. He is a great prodessional who knows what it means to suffer in order to win. He had told me what would happen if we won the cup. All of the employees at the club have worked very hard this year to make the Centenary unforgettable. The club is very strong today thanks to them."
"We are not going to stop now in our efforts to continue improving and growing. We have to keep on working hard so that success continues to come. This is the start of a new era. But for now, we have to celebrate and be happy. The world now knows that Valencia CF are back, and that we want to be amongst the best in Europe every year."
