Arias: "I'm sure Voro's influence will have a positive impact on the players"

The former player and current ambassador expressed his support for the interim coach and for the team

Ricardo Arias, Valencia CF ambassador and club legend, has shown his support and confidence in Voro González and the entire squad for this Sunday's game against Real Valladolid at Mestalla. Arias stressed that Voro will have a positive impact on the team immediately, speaking to VCF MEDIA today.

Voro is the best option

He's a 'son of Valencia CF.' He's somebody who is homegrown and knows the ins-and-outs, as well as the players, to perfection. Obviously he's the best option that we could have in this situation.
His daily work takes place here at the Ciudad Deportiva. He shares a workspace with the players and knows them perfectly.

Positive effect on players

That commitment and responsibility, professionalism and sacrifice is there, but above all it's the demand that the team need to get out of this situation. I'm convinced that they are going to manage it immediately. We've reached this situation in which we are playing with everything at stake against Valladolid on Sunday. We have to accept that, but the sooner we pick up the points that we need, the sooner we will see that calm and confidence.

The captains

The captains have made it clear that their behaviour is that of honest players, above all else. It is not about being more Valencianista than others, but rather about defending the club to the end.

Sunday's must-win match

Winning on Sunday is very important from a security standpoint. We need to beat Valladolid in what will be a difficult match. They are a tough team. I trust that attention will not be diverted and we will focus on the game and on getting the three points. I played in a relegation decider in the Primera División, and these players need to think that they have four games in which to do it. That's the only source of calm the players can have: They haven't just got THIS game to save the team -there are still four remaining. They still have a margin, but we have to try to win on Sunday regardless.
