Denis Cheryshev could be a new addition to Albert Celades' squad list when it is announced on Thursday, as he has fully recovered from injury and is ready to return to action in time for the visit to Mestalla of Atletico Madrid.
The Russian has some history with Valencia CF's Matchday 24 opposition, whom he has played against multiple times since he joined the Real Madrid academy as a child. Amongst them was a scoring performance for Valencia CF, back in the 2015/16 season, in a game which ended in defeat.
Cheryshev's first victory over Los Colchoneros was much earlier in his career, in 2002. 18 years have passed since that semifinal of a Christmas 7-a-side tournament he played in at Maspalomas, in which they bested Atletico 1-0 and went on to face eventual winners FC Barcelona, but the desire to win remains the same as ever.
