Cillessen: "We're focused and we're ready to go"
This Saturday night, Jasper Cillessen will return to the Camp Nou for the first time since joining Valencia CF from FC Barcelona, when the team take on the reigning LaLiga champions.
The goalkeeper, who had a recent reunion with opposite number Marc-André Ter Stegen during the match between Germany and the Netherlands last Friday, has been a visitor at Barça's stadium before, in the Champions League with Ajax. This weekend he hopes to play for the away team there in LaLiga, continuing his ever-present status in the current campaign.
Whilst the club have changed coach this week, with new boss Albert Celades taking charge, Cillessen expects the squad to be prepared for the challenge ahead.
"We are ready to win at the Camp Nou, but FC Barcelona are a very tough and competitive side -especially at home. We have a very good feeling after beating RCD Mallorca before the international break, and gained confidence in that game," he told VCF Media.
"Even though we have had a change of coach, we still have a good feeling that it will be possible to get a good result."
"The most important thing now is to win on Saturday. It's possible to win and it's what I want to do. I like difficult games, I have a lot of confidence in the team, we are going to train as hard as we can and fight to win," said a determined Cillessen, who has firsthand experience of some of Valencia CF's recent performances against the Catalans -including last season's Copa del Rey final.
"Valencia CF have had some good games at the Camp Nou. They always played great against me when I was with FC Barcelona, so I'm happy to be with them now!"
