Corberán: "The fans want to see a committed and dedicated team, and that's what they’ll get"
The Valencia CF coach speaks ahead of the match against Real Madrid CF
Just moments after signing a five-year contract with Valencia CF, Thierry Correia gave his initial thoughts on the move in a chat with VCF Media.
The 20-year old said that: "I am very happy to have received this opportunity. Valencia CF are a big club, who have won many national and European trophies. It's an honour to represent this club.
"Coming to a team like Valencia CF, who can participate in the Champions League, is a dream for any player."
The Portuguese talent was in action with his former club, Sporting CP, against his new team just a few weeks ago. It was a moment to remember for several reasons.
"That game was my first as a starter for Sporting CP, and that's why Valencia CF made a real mark on me. They are a great team, were the better side in that game and won the(Troféu Cinco Violinos," Correia explained, before mentioning that he has some points of reference at Mestalla.
"Miguel Brito played for the club and he is a friend of my father, so I've always had a connection with VCF. Then there is Gonçalo Guedes, who is Portuguese, and Cristiano Piccini -who also played for Sporting CP."
Correia will begin training at the Ciudad Deportiva shortly, in order to be ready for action as soon as possible.
