Correia LaLiga's paciest player on Matchdays 4 and 5
Thierry Correia made his first consecutive LaLiga appearances for Valencia CF on Matchdays 4 and 5, and put in two impressive displays. The statistics illustrate as much, highlighting in particular his pacy runs on and off the ball.
So quick was the Portuguese, in fact, he was singled out by the Renfe-sponsored Media Coach databank as the fastest player on those two matchdays, reaching a top speed of 35.1km/h.
Closest to matching him were El Yamiq (Real Valladolid, 34.8km/h), Rafa Mir (SD Huesca, 34.2km/h), Cucurella (Getafe, 34km/h) Lucas Pérez (Deportivo Alavés, 33.8km/h) and Alexander Isak (Real Sociedad, 33.8km/h). Correia's ability to rush forward to join the attack, as well as track back to defend, made him a valuable asset in his opening games of the season.
The fullback got a first run-out against Celta Vigo as a substitute, and then featured against Real Sociedad and Real Betis. He drew particular plaudits from coach Javi Gracia in the post-match press conference following the win in San Sebastian.
