Curro Torres: “Soler has shown the kind of player he is, and still has a lot of room for improvement”

One match away from ending this season of LaLiga, Carlos Soler has 11 goals and 8 assists under his belt. The midfielder has taken a step forward in the field, as the stats show. But he's not done yet. Curro Torres, who knows Carlos Soler perfectly after having seen him grow up at the VCF Academy, highlights that he still has a lot of room for improvement.
"Carlos Soler is a player who was made to be at Valencia CF," says Torres. "It's a pity that with this change of position to one that is more natural for him, the team haven't been more consistent. He has been an important player, and he still has a lot of room for improvement as well."
Asked about Soler's characteristics, the one-time Valencia CF midfielder remarked that:
"Soler is a player who has many characteristics. He can get the ball from deep, but he also runs in from the second line. We know about the shot he has from long distance, and he is a good free kick taker; he has to gain confidence with that, because I think he has not yet shown the true level that he has in that regard."
"When we talk about Soler, it's as if we are talking about a 29-year-old playerr, but he is still very young. He debuted for the first team at a young age and has continued to keep his place, which is not easy at a club as demanding as Valencia CF. He still has many years left in his career, and we hope he can become a point of reference for all the kids coming through."
Torres feels that the best characteristic Soler possesses is his commitment and concentration -which has accompanied growth in his physical talents.
"Soler has great personality. When he was a Cadete player he was weaker. He had a hard time playing because of that lack of physical presence, and when he went up to Juvenil level he made a big change in that aspect. He was not affected by his age or lack of experience. This year he was asked to take on much more responsibility and little by little he has become an important player for the team.
"His assists and goals have also increased this year. It deserves credit in a very inconsistent season. Soler has great ability, and his experience can help him to improve his performance."
