Daniel Wass: "It's going to be a tough month, but we're focused on Eibar first"
Daniel Wass has shown that, whatever position he occupies on the field of play, he is able to give the team all he has in search of victory. Ahead of a trip to Ipurua to take on Eibar next Monday, the skillful Dane was in conversation with VCF Media this week to look ahead to the fixture.
“We will be going there to win the game. It's going to be difficult. It's a small ground and they are very strong and physical, which will be tough. It's been a few years since we last won there. We'll be going for the 3 points on Monday, and to fight for the entire 90 minutes,” says Wass, who believes that, despite a losing effort, the game against Atletico Madrid had several positives.
“We're on the right path. We played well against Atletico Madrid, with some bad luck with the own goal that meant we lost 0-1. We're playing well, and if we continue like this then we will win many games.”
As for team morale, one of the elder statesmen of the squad comments that:
“The team are doing well and the squad are feeling good. We have José Luis Gayà, our captain, out injured, but the squad are in good shape and in high spirits every day. Taking the 3 points on Monday would help a lot. Moving forward in LaLiga is important. It's going to be very difficult, but we're going for every game. Monday is going to be no different. Getting the 3 points is the most important thing.”
“This season is a little strange, because there are small teams who are winning against big ones. Every team is very good, and has their own way of playing. Eibar have their style, which is very difficult to beat, especially at their very small ground. They are very physical, but on Monday we will match their physicality and compete to the fullest. That goes for the starters and for those who come on in the second half. If not, then it will be very difficult.”
“It's going to be a very tough month, but we're focused on the game against Eibar on Monday first. Then we're going to look at the other games. Monday is the most important one now, then we will go game-by-game.”
