Baraja: "tHE TEAM kePT going AND COMPETED UNTIL THE END"
The Valencia CF coach talks after the 2-2 result against Deportivo Alavés
The Valencia CF squad were back in training less than 24 hours after their draw at Mendizorroza with Deportivo Alavés, training with another competition in mind. The team have a home game against Atalanta BC on the horizon, in the Last 16 of the Champions League.
Whilst the odds are stacked against them, Valencia CF are no strangers to fighting back against adversity. They will need to overcome a 3 goal deficit, but they have done so three times in the club's history: Twice in the Copa del Rey, against Racing Santander and FC Barcelona, and most recently back in 2014 in the Europa League against FC Basel.
VCF can also draw strength from the fact that two teams have already beaten Atalanta in the Champions League this season, by a margin that would take them through; Dinamo Zagreb and Manchester City.
The Serbian side ran out 4-0 winners on the opening matchday of the competition, and the English champions bested them 5-1 on Matchday 3 of the group stage. Results of a similar nature at Mestalla would allow Valencia CF to continue their quest in the Champions League in 2019/20.
