Iranzo: ''We'LL be eternally grateful to the teammates and the people of the town"
The player from Picanya talks on VCF Media Radio about his experience after the flash floodings that devastated the southern region of Valencia.
Hugo Duro's two goals against Atalanta BC won Valencia CF the Trofeo Naranja, and the striker expressed his pleasure to VCF Media following the final whistle.
Returning to Mestalla
We were looking forward to playing here at Mestalla in front of our home fans, and also to put into practice everything that we've worked on this preseason, to prepare for the start of the season next weekend. It seems to have gone well, and we're happy with the job that we did.
Two goals
I work for that. I got two goals, which were also down to the work done by the team. We will keep going in the same way. On a personal level, I want to improve, and collectively we will try to as well.
For the first goal, when I saw that Hugo Guillamón was going to open play up to José, I began to shake off my marker to get in front of the defender. I managed it and José sent in the cross, which was a little behind me. I think that it was the only way to get a shot off.
The second goal came because I know Foulquier well and have played with him for a long time. I know that, when he controls and looks towards the box, he's going to cross. I attacked the space and it worked out for me with two goals.
The fans
We're feeling good about this result, which is good for the team and for gaining confidence. It also gets the fans behind us, so that next weekend they are excited. We will try to get the win for them.
They support us and they help us. For all these people to come for a preseason game, with how hot it is, with a lot of people on holiday, makes us proud. They helped us a lot.
Adjusting to a new style
It's a different style of play. Last year the team played how the coach wanted, and this year it is something different. Both styles are valid ways of playing a game. Preseason is for getting in shape and, above all, for picking up the concepts that the new coach has. It seems as if we are improving. The team are on a good path and we will keep going to do better.
Recovering from his injuries
Missing 10 days in preseason is always difficult, especially with your teammates training in the morning and evening. Little by little we are getting in shape, although I was suffering a lot in the final ten minutes. It's still a training game for improving this. I'm sure that I'll be better for next weekend.
Planning for Girona
We aren't going to change anything. We will keep going with our way of playing, depending on how Girona play. We'll see that this week, then try to use our strengths and look for solutions to win that game, doing the best that we can.
