Edu Mingotes: “We’ve got to be well prepared for the start of the competition"
VCF Mestalla continue preseason preparations ahead of the start of the Spanish third tier with a prendominatly younng squad as Óscar Ferández works setting his sights on the squad coming and jellying together in a new-look and tough Segunda B.
Eduardo Migotes joined on Loan from Real Zaragoza to bolster the VCF Mestalla backline boasting 40 Segunda B appearances to his name. He comes in looking to bring experience, contribute, as well as banish the demons of his ACL injury he sustained at UE Conrellà.
He spoke to the VCF Media microphone after joining with a fresh first day smile on his face.
The VCF Mestalla brand new signing Edu Mingotes said that he was really happy and looking forward to having a great season.
When asked about his injuries he said I’ve spent a long time on the sidelines with a knee injury and a broken nose before that I’ve spent all this time recovering. Then he admitted to having had a word with Óscar Fernández who wants him to showcase his experience in the dressing room.
I was surprised because apart from two or three of us who are older, all of my teammates are really young, they’re full of energy and quality, but the Segunda B is a tough category and we’ll need to display the aggressiveness required, Said Edu.
Edu is looking forward to joining the rest of the squad in full training but he is taking things easy on his way to recovery because they do not want to take risks but he expects to get things going in a week or so, said Edu.
Edu Mingotes has Segunda B experience and admitted that there are doubts around the new-look format but the key to that is winning games to finish as high up the table as possible and for that getting off to a good start, getting to know the players and winning the remainder of our preseason matches is important ir order for us to be well prepared for the start of the competition.
Edu Mingotes describes himself as a good centre-back regarding his defensive duties more than at bringing the ball out from the back.
