Fatherhood, Spain callup and VCF victory for Rodrigo

The striker has become a father for the first time, as part of a busy week

Valencia CF striker Rodrigo Moreno became a father at the beginning of last week, and whilst he didn't score in the club's game against Alavés, providing an assist for Maxi Gómez and the new addition to his family meant he was a happy man after the victory.

Daughter Daniella is his first child, and Rodrigo spoke about the experience to VCF Media.

"It's the best gift that life can give you," he explained. "I'm very excited about it, everything worked out well, and at the moment she only eats and sleeps. My friends who are parents always say how beautiful it is, but you don't realise how much until it happens to you."

The club sent a shirt with 'Daniella' on the reverse for the newborn baby, and Rodrigo appreciated the sentiment: "We've already got a new Valencianista in the family," he said.

He will not have too much time to spend at home, however, as Spain have called him up for the games against Norway (October 12th) and Sweden (October 15th). The new doting dad will train with 'La Roja at the Ciudad del Fútbol de Las Rozas in Madrid from 8:30pm on Monday.
