Mestalla brimming with emotions running high
Relive the emotional events that took place in the run-up to Valencia CF-Real Betis to pay tribute to the victims and those affected by the tragic flash floods
Eleven years have passed since the last trophy won by Valencia CF, but one of the youngest members of the squad is still able to remember the day, despite his tender age at the time.
Ferran Torres was one of the fans who, on April 16th, 2008, travelled to Madrid to watch the team beat Getafe 3-1. He was just 8 years old at the time, but was taken by his parents to the match at the Vicente Calderón.
"I enjoyed it a lot," recalls Torres, for whom this Saturday's game against FC Barcelona will be the second final he experiences in person.
The VCF Academy product has risen through the ranks since his first taste of a Copa del Rey-deciding game, and he debuted for Valencia CF against Zaragoza in the competition. His first goal for the club also came in the cup, against Sporting Gijon this year.
"Every player fights to win trophies, and this one would be the first for many of us," says the young talent, who will get to take in the atmosphere of a Copa del Rey final once more.
