Gabriel Paulista: “I give my all in every game to help the team”

Gabriel Paulista, Valencia CF responds to questions asked by the fans on social media.

Hi! How are you all? I hope that you are all OK and coping with this situation. Today, from my house, I'm going to try to answer your questions.

The habit that I have is to be the last player to step onto the pitch for the warmup and the game. When we come down the steps, I wait for everyone else to go ahead of me, and I go out last.

My first goal in a Valencia CF shirt felt very special. It was an incredible moment in my career. To score that first goal for the club, at Mestalla, was a very special feeling.

I'm in my best form this season. I'm one of the players who is getting the most minutes, which is the most important thing for me. There is also the possibility of a call-up to the Spanish national team, so I think that it's a very good moment.

The DJ in the dressing room is Rodrigo. He always puts on the music in the dressing room before we train and on matchdays. When Rodrigo isn't there, I'm in charge of choosing the music. The silliest person is Maxi, who is always joking around with all of the players and the staff at Valencia CF. He always gets a laugh from us.

It's a special moment. It's like you are getting recognition from people that you are doing a very good job, and doing the best that you can to try to help the team. Hearing 30-40,000 people shouting your name is very special for me and for my career. That's why I work harder every day, and why in every game I try to help the team.

I really believe it. I think that we can fight back in LaLiga and qualify for next season's Champions League. We all know that the Spanish league is very, very tough, but it was tough last year and people said that it was impossible. We worked constantly and steadily, and reached our goal. This season it will be no different. I think it's possible and I believe in my team a lot.

I see myself being one of the captains of Valencia CF one day.

I felt as if I'd accomplished something. It was a very special feeling, winning a trophy with this club. Especially as we beat a great side in FC Barcelona. It was a very special day, in a very good season. It was good to have my name go down in club history in the centenary year. It was a very special year, because of everything.

The place that I love the most in Valencia is Mestalla.

Yes! I've tried maté made by Maxi. Whenever we are together, be it in the dressing room before training, in the team chats and before games, we are always sharing maté.

I prefer caipirinha, because it's a typical drink in my country. I prefer caipirinha.

We are going through a tough, difficult time. I always look to do things at home, like playing with my son and watching films. I also train a little, to keep in shape; we don't know how long this is going to go on. I have a small gym at home and I try to train. I play with my son and watch films with my wife.

I hope that you have enjoyed this, and I hope that you are holding up well in this situation. Together we are going to overcome it.
