Baraja: "We want to dedicate the victory to the victims and those affected by the 'DANA'"
The coach previews the game against Real Betis
Maxi Gómez is raring to get back into action following a nagging injury and the international break. Ahead of Sunday's game against Real Sociedad at Anoeta, the Uruguayan striker spoke to VCF Media to talk about his intentions of being back available to coach José Bordalás.
Returning to the group
I'm very happy to be back with the group and to be training with my teammates. I'm really happy, and we're training hard for the game on Sunday, which will be very difficult
I'm taking things steady. They've given me some good treatment here and I'm looking to rejoin the group. We have to prepare for the game in the best way.
Wanting to help the team
I'm really looking forward to being able to play a game again, and helping my teammates -which is always fundamental. I'm very happy.
The game against Real Sociedad
The fixture last year was a beautiful game. We got the win, but it was a very complete performance from everybody. We did a really good job. The goal that I scored was from a cross by Gayà; I just had to get my foot to it and turn it into the net. I hope that we can repeat the win from last year, and get three points that are very important for us.
It's going to be a very difficult game. They have some great players. We have to prepare in the best way possible, looking only at ourselves.
Improvements in defence
Keeping a clean sheet is fundamental. It always gives you a lot when it comes to winning games. I hope that we can have a great match. We deserve a game like that.
The atmosphere is different, and that's got a lot to do with the last few games. There was a huge effort put in by all of the team. They were massive in the last few games.
I think that keeping a clean sheet, then attacking with the great players that Valencia CF have in every sense, gives you the confidence that you will have chances to score goals. The clean sheets are essential, though.
No easy games in LaLiga
We need to work and do the same job that we've always been doing. The games that we've had were very difficult, but there are no easy games in LaLiga -whether at home or away. We have to prepare in the best way, as we have been, and we want a perfect game. Hopefully we can take the three points back to Valencia.
