Baraja: "tHE TEAM kePT going AND COMPETED UNTIL THE END"
The Valencia CF coach talks after the 2-2 result against Deportivo Alavés
Javi Gracia gave a press conference ahead of Sunday's LaLiga game against Cadiz CF -the first fixture back after the international break.
Ready to claim a second consecutive victory
"We had more time after our last game to savour the victory that we took before the international break, and see that we were still strong at home. Now is the time to improve on what we have not done in recent games, which is to achieve a good result away from home and get two victories in a row. We have had more time to prepare for it, albeit with some players away on international duty, but the trips away for those players -except for Jasper Cillessen who returned injured- have been positive. We are ready to have a good game and get a good result."
Importance of the final position in the standings
"Our attempts to improve at the end of the season come from the professionalism of everybody at the club: The players, the coaching staff and all employees. Everything else will be a consequences of that. The financial side is important, but it will depend on us having managed to win the 10 games that we have left and place as high as possible. We are not driven by the financial factor, but rather by the sporting side and our desire to improve. The club have given us the motivation to finish the season in the best possible way and I am sure that we will finish at 100%."
Cillessen's recovery
"Jasper's injury is not serious enough to believe we are going to lose him for the rest of the season. He will be available before the season ends. I have always trusted all of our goalkeepers. I am calm about things, rather than thinking that there is any need to have other goalkeepers than those who are available. We have that position well covered with any of the goalkeepers we have."
Cutrone's chances of minutes
"I really appreciate the work that Cutrone has done with us and with the Italy Under-21s. I'm happy about his goals. His position is that in which there is the most competition. The distribution of minutes is what it is, and it is not easy to get into the side. As for how I share out the minutes, all of our strikers have already exceeded the number of minutes they played last season."
His own future
"My intention is to finish the season well. I have always liked to see out my contracts. I have signed a contract and my understanding is that I will comply with it, as happens with all employees. I try to be the best professional possible, do my job as well as possible and try to make the club the best possible through my work."
