Gracia: "We tried to win the game from the start"

The Valencia CF coach reflected on a 2-1 triumph over Granada CF after the final whistle

Javi Gracia gave his opinions on the 2-1 win over Granada CF in his post match press conference at Mestalla.

Continuing to grow

"Away from home, we need to distinguish between games. In the last three matches we haven't played in a manner befitting of our potential. The team work hard, with belief, to break the dynamic away from home and improve our points. Playing at home or away, in the situation we are in, doesn't seem as much of a difference-maker because you lack the help from the fans and the atmosphere. However, for the moment we feel more comfortable at home and I hope that we continue on this path at home -as well as of course trying to improve away."

A complete game

"It would have been the most complete game that we have had, if we were more effective in front of goal. I think that, in terms of our play, the first half reflected the team's attitude and our intensity, as well as how we tried to win the game from the start. We tried to kill the game off in the first half. It wasn't possible in terms of goals, but in terms of how we dominated, how we played and the chances that we had, that was the case."

The substitutions

"I'm the one responsible for making the changes, and I make them when I see fit. I thought that the team were doing well, and I considered it right to keep the same players on."

Searching for a second win in a row

"The aim is the next game. We have two weeks in which to prepare, and we need to try to compete better than we have done recently away from home. We need to take the win, which would be the second in a row -something that we haven't managed this season. We need to keep making the most of what we do well, and keep improving on what we do badly."
