Guedes: "We are a team who never give up."
Gonçalo Guedes was the matchwinner for Valencia CF in the regional derby, striking in the 92nd minute to help his side to a 2-1 win at Mestalla. After the final whistle, the Portuguese analysed the game for VCF MEDIA.
"Right from the beginning, we deserved the win. We had a great game. We had the ball, we were confident, and we played well. We were unlucky with the penalty, which helped Villarreal a lot," said Guedes.
"In the second half we started better, and after the goal we knew there was enough time to score a second. We are strong at Mestalla, even though our fans are not here and we miss them a lot. I want to congratulate the team, because it was a great game for everyone."
Valencia CF went behind in the match, but rallied late through their belief and persistence.
"We are a team who never give up. I think that we have a great attitude. Things can go well or badly, and that's normal. The most important thing is that we believed, right to the end," he stated.
"We know the quality that we have and the competitive attitude that we have. Getting to the end of the game and having that commitment is very important. We took some important points tonight."
"I'm very happy and the goal gives me a lot of confidence, mainly because it brought the team the three points. Obviously it feels very good. We showed a lot of desire and we got the three points, so now we have to keep picking up points."
"At home it is always important to win. We feel more comfortable, but away from home we also have to score points. I think we have to plan our away matches better."
