Baraja: "tHE TEAM kePT going AND COMPETED UNTIL THE END"
The Valencia CF coach talks after the 2-2 result against Deportivo Alavés
Lucas Bedford is a young Valencianista from Leicester (UK) who fell in love with Valencia CF when he was only 3 years old. On a trip with his family, he visited the Mestalla Forever Tour and from that moment on he became a loyal fan of the team, becoming captivated by the bat on the badge.
Three years later, his family, in recognition of his tireless fight to overcome a rare eye disease, brought him back to Valencia on vacation and he was able to fulfill his dream of seeing a Valencia CF game in person at Mestalla. The day was a rollercoaster of emotions for Lucas, who also got to meet some of his idols.
"I was able to see the players and got their autographs, including that of my favorite player: Javi Guerra. He made me cry with happiness," said little Lucas.
But this story does not end here, in that match against RCD Espanyol last season, Javi Guerra surprised him, although this second time was going to be different.
"When we met for the first time at Mestalla, when we arrived with the bus, I didn't know he was there, but I did see someone wearing my shirt. Apart from my family and friends, he would be the first to wear my shirt," Guerra describes.
From Lucas to Javi Guerra
As a symbol of his appreciation, Lucas wrote him a very special letter and gave him the shirt he usually plays in for his Leicester team, Kibworth Town Under 8 Hawks.
Javi Guerra and Lucas Bedford's friendship is one of those beautiful bonds that unites the feeling and love for Valencia CF and lasts forever.
"Lucas was the first person to wear my shirt and you remember those moments. It's nice to see that, above all, young children notice you and that you represent a way of playing that they like. It makes me very happy that my style of play or my way of being pleases people. I am very grateful for the letter, for the gift and I hope Lucas comes this year to Mestalla and I can see him. I will be happy to send him my shirt and I hope he likes it", explains the midfielder from Gilet.
