Get to know Carlos Corberán better
Review his career here: his training in Spain and his journey through Saudi Arabia, Cyprus, Greece and England.
In just a few months, Jesús Vázquez has taken several important steps forward in his career. A starter for VCF Mestalla last season, he also made his official debut for the first team in the Copa del Rey against Terrassa FC.
This preseason he has participated in all five friendlies, either starting from the bench or in the first XI.
After the 1-0 victory against Levante UD, Vázquez said that "I'm much more confident, much looser. I still need to let go more, but that’s a matter of time. The team have been very welcoming to all of us young players.”
In Friday's game he occupied the left wing with José Luis Gayà, showing defensive solidity and mobility going forward.
“Against Levante UD we were very good, pushing up at the beginning. We were very aggressive up top and we have perhaps lacked a bit of success with our finishing, but we played very well,” analysed Vázquez, who also praised the defensive work done by the team.
“We are working very well in defence, which is something we put a lot of emphasis on because it is important to keep clean sheets.”
Next up is the Trofeu Taronja, which the VCF Academy product is relishing.
“Playing at Mestalla is something we have always dreamed of since we were little. Being able to do that against a team like AC Milan is going to be a very great experience. Above all, we will try to win".
