E. Barrenechea: "We are having a great second half of the season"
The Valencia CF midfielder speaks to VCF Media
Toni Lato captained Valencia CF in the second half of the game against Alavés, and he gave his appraisal of the performance in the contest to VCF Media.
Self-criticism
“We should have taken the three points today. We didn't have our normal level of intensity and concentration. It is a defeat that hurts us a lot. We wanted the three points and to be closer to the top positions."
A bad start
“We didn't start the game well. We knew that they were strong from set pieces and Loum finished off the chance all alone. It has been a step backwards. We needed the three points today.”
Consistency
“We need to be more consistent during matches, and apply the same level of intensity during every game. We have to be self-critical and know that if we don't win games like today's, we won't be able to aspire to be at the top."
The next match against FC Barcelona
“We knew that by winning today we would put ourselves within three points of the top positions. It was a shame not to take the three points. We have to be self-critical and think focus on the next game. We know that FC Barcelona will be tough opponents, but we need to start taking points."
