López: "I feel privileged to have undertaken preseason with the first team"
In a summer of young talents coming through at Valencia CF, Diego López rounded off preseason with his first goal for the club. Scorer of the opener in the 1-2 defeat to Brentford, he spoke to VCF Media at the conclusion of the visit to England.
His first goal for Valencia CF
"I saw that Cristian sent one long over the top, and that they had pushed the line very high up. I knew that Sergi Canós would not be very aware in the defence, and I took advantage of that ball behind him to run with it. When I saw that I was going through on goal, I didn't hesitate."
Preseason with the first team
"For me, taking part in preseason with the Valencia CF first team is a source of pride. I feel very lucky. I will always be very grateful to the coaching staff and players who have welcomed me so well, and who have given me this opportunity. I feel privileged."
His first weeks at Valencia CF
"It has surprised me a lot, because from the get-go they have welcomed me as just another member of the group. It's as if both the young and older players have known me forever and, as I say, I feel privileged.
Analysing preseason
"I think we have grown in preseason. We have had a very good month in terms of our intensity and play. Now comes the important thing: LaLiga. On Friday we have our first fixture and that is the most important thing of all. We will face it with great enthusiasm and motivation."
