Manu Vallejo: “The team are getting stronger through victories”
Manu Vallejo spoke to VCF Media following the Copa del Rey win vs. AD Alcorcón.
It was a complete day today. We've seen how tough it is to get through the rounds, and a lot of Primera División sides have been knocked out. We knew that we were up against a Segunda División team who would make things difficult for us. We had to show our superiority and I think we had a good game. I'm happy about the goal, and with us going through, which is the important thing.
In the end, there maybe isn't so much of a difference between a Primera División and a Segunda División side. If you aren't focused for 90 minutes, then it's hard to win the game. We had two previous experiences -one good and another that wasn't so good- and I think that the good things we did against Yeclano helped us to go out there focused from the opening minute. We gave everything to go through to the next round.
I'm happy, because in the end it helped the team. It's a reward for my daily work, and you can see it reflected on the pitch. I think that we had a good, serious game and the team played very well. We got through, which is the important thing.
We have another 'final' on Thursday. The 'finals' keep on coming, but the team are getting stronger through victories. It isn't easy to win any game, be it against Yeclano, here or against Real Valladolid the other day. It's tough against any team. A win is a win, and we're on a run of three in a row, keeping a clean sheet. We have to extend this run, win on Thursday and do the same on Sunday at the Wanda.
That's what training does for you. I train to be ready for the opportunities that I have, to do the best possible. If I play for 20 minutes, then in those 20 minutes I give my all. That's the same if I play for 90 minutes. I'm going to train to be ready for whatever role I have to play.
