Piccini: “Valencia is our home and the Valencian people are our people”
The former Valencia CF footballer has helped those affected by the DANA storm with over 3,000 kg of food
Marcelino García Toral gave his opinions after the 2-3 win against Girona, reflecting on a hard fought triumph at Montilivi in his press conference.
The game
“We won, but maybe the fairest result today would have been a draw. They had two very clear chances that Neto kept out. We had the game under control, but the sending off of Roncaglia affected us a lot; it meant that we had to bring on a centre back and take off an attacking player. That was when we encountered difficulties off free kicks, and we conceded an avoidable penalty, but we wanted to win and to take a second consecutive away win."
Making decisions
"We have six players who play on the wings, and in order to field one, we have to leave another one out. Ferran is very young and we all have to be prudent with him, be patient and take good decisions. As for Kang In, we should all have taken on board in January that a 17-year-old is unlikely to play very much. Ferran has an extraordinary future ahead of him and is more competitive all the time, so we are very satisfied with that. I try to be fair and I think that he deserves to play."
Struggling to win
"We are still having problems and, although we won, we can't forget how hard it was to get the victory. The team have much more confidence than a few months ago, when we were putting together a run of so many draws. Now we have to focus on Krasnodar, as we want to be in the quarter finals of the Europa League. After that, we'll turn our attention to Getafe. If we win, it will be another step forward, but there's still a long way to go in the league. There is a lot of equality and many teams in the running. My feeling is that everything will be decided at the end."
