The game had a difficult start, with a goal from Real Madrid's Dani Carvajal in the 2nd minute. That was followed by shot from Toni Kroos against the crossbar that made Real Madrid's offensive potential very clear.

After the initial setback, Valencia CF needed a few minutes to get back on track, but in the 10th minute Hugo Duro tested goalkeeper Andriy Lunin with a good shot from inside the area. He had another chance in the 15th minute, put through one-on-one with the shot stopper, and was again denied.

Valencia CF had come into the game having taken 7 points out of the last 9, and showed why with another dangerous chance in the Real Madrid area. A cross from the left wing by Pepelu was headed by Hugo Duro inside the six-yard-box, bouncing back off the post.

However, the difference that effectiveness in front of goal makes was evident from the next move. Moments after Valencia CF could have levelled, Real Madrid went 2-0 up through a move on the right wing that Vinicius Jr. finished off.

After the interval, Real Madrid would score two more goals in the space of five minutes, the first from Vini Jr and the second from Rodrygo, who in the 84th minute added a second to make it 5-0.

Hugo Duro got a consolation goal in the 87th minute, breaking away from Nacho on the right to take a first-time shot.
