Match Report: Valencia CF play out goalless draw away at SD Eibar (0-0)

Valencia CF were back in Monday night football action on the 7th of December at 9 pm kick-off time (CET) on the road against SD Eibar at Ipurua to round off matchday 12 of LaLiga Santander.

Valencia CF had a lively start to the game being stuck-in, organised and well-positioned in the early goings of the game. The first Valencia CF chance fell to Carlos Soler who tried his luck from outside the box but his shot was easily gathered by Dimitrovic.

The game saw a sloppy spell with both sides exchanging possession.  Manu Vallejo came tantalisingly close to scoring following a Maxi Gómez low cross from the right but the ball rolled across the face of goal.

The match became increasingly contested in the closing minutes of the half with Daniel Wass enjoying the last kick of the half but it went all the way through to Dimitrovic.

The first half finished goalless with nothing to separate the sides at half time and all to play for in the second half.

Valencia CF came out in the second half on the back foot having to withstand the home side’s shockwaves of attacks and finding it difficult to settle in the second half.

Moments later, Uroš Račić had the first clear-cut chance of the game for Valencia CF with a superb first-time volley which was palmed onto the underside of the crossbar and with a little bit of fortune the ball came back off the bar.

Valencia CF had came close to scoring on the hour mark when Uroš Račić threaded a through ball into Manu Vallejo who whipped a ball into Maximiliano Gómez at the back post who tried to square it into Soler but Expósito picked off the pass.

Eliaquim Mangala got on the end of a set-piece but was flagged up for offside with little over 15 minutes of normal time plus stoppage time left to play at Ipurua.

Valencia CF were forced into a substitution after Toni Lato was on the receiving end of a clash of heads early on as the hosts'attacking siege continued with Valencia CF defending resolutely deep in their own half.

Kevin Gameiro came mighty close to stealing it right at the death as he was played through on goal but Dimitrovic stuck a leg out to deny the Frenchman the winning goal. The game finished scoreless and the points were shared at Ipurua.

Valencia CF will welcome Athletic Club on Saturday at 2pm kick-off time at Mestalla on matchday 13 of LaLiga Santander.
