Match Report: VCF Mestalla fall to defeat against Nastic Tarragona (0-2)
VCF Mestalla played on Saturday their sixth pre-season match at the Ciudad Deportiva, this time against segunda B promotion favourites who are in subgroup A of group III of Segunda B who eased past VCF Mestalla by 0-2.
VCF Mestalla enjoyed an early double chance in the manner of Nacho Muñoz but Gonzi was equal to it and that prompted a quick response at the other end through Roger Brugué who made it 0-1 four minutes into the first half.
Charly managed to deny Nastic Tarragona a second goal at full stretch. Following those three chances the game became cagier with VCF Mestalla trying to stretch the opposition using the wings while the Catalan side were sitting back comfortably as the first half came to a close in blustery and hot weather conditions.
The opposition took the initiative as Valencia CF Mestalla struggled to get a foothold in the game. Óscar Fernández made some changes to his starting eleven who could quite carve any clear cut chances to get back in the game.
However, Nastic Tarragona doubled their advantage halfway through the second half through Joel Marín Lasso who put Nastic 0-2 up.The game headed into the closing stages with VCF Mestalla dangerous chances few and far between.
The game ended in a 0-2 defeat in what was yet another preseason test ahead of the start of the competition in the week commencing 12 of October versus Atzeneta UE on the opening day of Segunda B.
