Baraja: "tHE TEAM kePT going AND COMPETED UNTIL THE END"
The Valencia CF coach talks after the 2-2 result against Deportivo Alavés
Maxi Gómez was back to scoring ways against CA Osasuna this past weekend, and the Uruguayan was keen to explain his and the team’s upturn in form in an interview with VCF Media.
His positive feeling after scoring against Osasuna
I am very happy with the victory in Pamplona, as it was a hard-fought one. The team did very well in many aspects and I am very happy to be back amongst the goals. A forward always wants to score, but it's not just about scoring goals but also about working for the team. A very difficult game is coming up against one of the best sides in LaLiga, and we are very well prepared to have a good game.
The match against Real Madrid at Mestalla
It is always nice to play against FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, who as we know are two of the best teams in the world, but we have been working very well. We have been feeling very comfortable and we must continue working in the same way. The coach makes us feel very comfortable when it comes to our work, we are very happy with this and we are doing well.
Bordalás' influence on the team's competitive values
Bordalás is a coach who likes to work hard, and the players are very happy to have him here. There was a lack of confidence within the team when he arrived. We are feeling better and better, and hopefully we continue on this same path.
The team’s performances
We try to do our best in each training session, the players get along with each other in our day-to-day interactions, we work well together during the week and get to show that in games. We are doing very well and hopefully all of my teammates will continue like this, to get to the next game in the best condition possible.
His form and confidence
I am very happy with the work I am doing. Strikers always rely on goals, but we must continue in the same way so that more goals continue to come, and so that I help the team, which is essential.
Returning South America after the international break
We arrived just in time, myself and Omar Alderete, but we are happy to be able to help the team and our teammates again. They deserve it, and it was a great day. I’m very happy for Omar and me.
The importance of the fans
The fans are the twelfth man for us, because of the encouragement they give us in every game. We feel very comfortable when they are there, and we have been working hard to win on Sunday, which is essential. You have to keep working with humility, and beautiful things come when there is hard work and commitment. We are very happy.
