VCF eSports player, Vicente Civera, tells us about his beginnings in the world of video games and how he became a professional.
When did you started playing videogames?
I've liked to play since I was little, especially football games. In 2014 I became interested in competing and training to to participate in national tournaments.
How did your passion for Valencia CF come about?
Like a good Valencian, my parents and grandparents were Valencianistas, so since I was little I already had that passion within me.
I remember having several collections of Valencia CF memorabilia from the newspapers. One of them is a collection of coins with the faces of the players from that season on them, and I still keep that at my parents' house.
What does it mean for you to be part of Valencia CF eSports?
For me it is a great joy and satisfaction to be able to represent my hometown team.
When did you realize that playing was more than just a hobby and could you dedicate yourself to it professionally?
In about 2017, I became curious about competing and testing my level against the best. Since then, we have continued to fight to learn and improve day by day.
How do you see yourself in 5 years? And in 10 years?
Honestly, I haven't considered it because within this world anything can happen. Of course, I would like to keep progressing with what I do, but always with my feet on the ground and enjoying the opportunities.
Has being a professional player allowed you to continue with your studies?
Yes, but I also have another job and I'm studying programming.
What advice would you give to young people who want to become professional players?
To not lose their minds, and to continue with their daily tasks and their obligations. When they see that they can compete or have a level of talent, they should dare to take the risk and spend time on it. Until then, they need to be focused and keep their feet on the ground.
