Corberán: "The fans want to see a committed and dedicated team, and that's what they’ll get"
The Valencia CF coach speaks ahead of the match against Real Madrid CF
Ahead of his sixth season with the VCF Academy, Joseda Menargues made his unofficial first team debut in the second friendly of preseason -a 3-0 win against Atromitos FC.
He talked to VCF Media the day after the match to give his thoughts on the latest development in his fledgling career.
“I am very happy and proud, and also grateful to everyone who has given me the opportunity to play,” he explained. “It is another step forward.”
He was used in several different positions, demonstrating his versatility.
"I had played at left back before, and it is similar to playing on the right. As for operating in midfield, it’s a question of adapting to what is required of you.”
Menargues arrived at the club at the age of 14 and has participated in the UEFA Youth League and played many games as a starter for VCF Mestalla. His success has also led to him being selected for Spain up to Under-19s level.
His focus now is to be ready for if called upon by the first team at Valencia CF.
“Valencia CF are following us closely and giving us opportunities. You have to take advantage of them and be prepared. They tell us that we should be calm and have confidence, and be fully committed; in football, nothing comes for free.”
“They are giving many of us the opportunity to train with the first team, and that is a dream that we have had from a young age.”
