Baraja: "tHE TEAM kePT going AND COMPETED UNTIL THE END"
The Valencia CF coach talks after the 2-2 result against Deportivo Alavés
Gaizka Mendieta was one of the protagonists in the 1999 Copa del Rey final, and paved the way for Valencia CF to once again make history at La Cartuja.
The former player recalled the 1999 win and analysed the final on April 23 with VCF MEDIA.
"I think that there is a good enough team, and good enough players, to compete in this final. Betis have a very good team, but I don't think that Valencia CF should feel inferior," he explained.
"There is a team, beyond the individual talents, that can win the cup. Above all there are homegrown players, and those like Guedes, who assume responsibility with no fear. The players know the importance of this game, and know how to approach it. They have international experience and experience on the big stage. That's what you need in a game like this: A united team, who are clear about how they play."
"That has been the case with Valencia CF under Bordalás. The results can be good or bad over the course of the season, but their ideas are clear. Then there are individual talents like Guedes, Soler, Gayà etc. We should be excited," said the legendary midfielder.
