Mestalla hosts presentation of ‘IMED-UCV Alto Rendimiento Deportivo’ project
Mestalla hosted the presentation of the ‘IMED-UCV Alto Rendimiento’ project on Thursday, following an agreement reached between IMED Hospitales and the Universidad Católica de Valencia educational institution. These two entities provide the services of sports medicine and high performance to both elite and amateur athletes. The objective is to improve their health and quality of life, as well as boosting their performance -all with a cutting edge focus on constant development.

The event, presented by former cyclist Ángel Casero and attended by several elite athletes from the Valencia region (at all times complying with the protocol established by the Ministry of Health), was preceded by a minute’s silence in memory of those who passed away from COVID-19, before the participants explained the project and presented the experienced team behind it.

Ángel Gómez, IMED Hospitales CEO:
“Athletes are going to have the hospital facilities available to them whenever a diagnosis via scan, emergency hospitalisation or surgery is required. I am convinced that this sports-focused project is going to be a success. Normality is gradually returning and we hope that it is back to stay.
José Manuel Pagán, Universidad Católica de Valencia rector: “The union between these two institutions has provided an amplitude of opportunities. Sometimes it is more comfortable to work alone, but both IMED and the UCV are institutions that believe in innovation, are humble and boast youth. When we want something long term, being accompanied is a guarantee of success.”

Pablo Vera, Clínicas Universitarias UCV director: “Reaching an agreement with IMED was very easy, as we both love sport. IMED-UCV has everything at an athlete’s service.”
Pedro Tomás, IMED Valencia director: “The UCV is a point of reference in education and investigation. Uniting is a privilege. With this agreement we take a very important step forward with the best team. The value that we are going to provide is in the facilities, which boast unbeatable technology, and a top level team. Talent is in our DNA and we have a winning lineup, with lots of experience in high level competition -the greatest guarantee of success.”

Once the presentation concluded, the attendees participated in a charity goal shootout, raising 1,500 € for Valencian cerebral palsy charity AVAPACE.
