Parejo: "We can't concede the goals that we conceded"
After the final whistle in the defeat to Real Sociedad, Valencia CF captain Dani Parejo talked to the media about the result.
Explanations for the performance
"What has been happening recently has been a lack of solidity in the box. La Real scored the first goal in the 15th minute through the only player that was in the area, which was a clear mistake. We started out on the back foot and were affected.
"Later on, from a corner in the final minute of the first half they beat us to the ball twice -once on each post- and we conceded again. In the end when you concede goals so easily it becomes very difficult to win games. There are many things to correct, and we have a very important game next week at Mestalla. If we want to be in the top spots or fight for the Champions League spots, we have to play like men. In the first half, above all, we looked like a Juvenil team -something that we can't allow."
A message for the fans
"We apologise once again. We can't concede the goals that we conceded. It's true that we lost the game, but we conceded two goals in the first half from three shots -two very avoidable actions. If you aren't strong in the area it's very difficult to win games."
Another tough defeat
"We came into this one in a delicate time, but we weren't in a bad spot in the standings. If we had won today, we would have moved into fourth. We conceded three goals, two of which were very avoidable. We have to be self critical and take responsibility for each of our mistakes."
Changes to make
"When you concede two or three goals, it means that you aren't doing things well -especially when they are very avoidable. All we can do is work and keep going, because there are still many points in play."
