Baraja: "tHE TEAM kePT going AND COMPETED UNTIL THE END"
The Valencia CF coach talks after the 2-2 result against Deportivo Alavés
Gabriel Paulista gave his analysis of the 2-2 draw with RCD Mallorca to VCF Media after the full time whistle.
The performance
We have to analyse what happened. We had two different halves: One in which we started well, and I don’t know what happened after that. There was a lack of solidity in our defending. We lost a ball in the middle and it was a mistake that we can’t be making; the coach has always said this, that in as good a competition as this you are hindered by a mistake like that. That’s what happened. The second goal was another case of us lacking defensive solidity. We’d spoken before about pressing high, and they got past us very easily. That’s how the second goal came. The substitutions helped us a lot, and the players who came on gave us something. They helped us to look for the draw.
Being a team that gives everything
Every day, every game, we have to do much more for the club. Many do not know the importance of this club and its history. When I arrived I said that I wanted to make history at this club, and I am doing a good job. I want to continue like this and I am going to dedicate myself to the fullest. We showed that there is no lost ball and we went looking for a very difficult equaliser. We have to celebrate, because we drew after being 0-2 down, but we have to do more and be more ambitious to be up at the top. We cannot settle for anything little.
His key move
I celebrated the goal a lot because before I went into the area off a throw-in to try to help my team. We missed a pass and they went on the counter, but for me there is no lost ball. I was able to get back, regain the ball and help my team. The equaliser came from that, and that's why I celebrated it like that. I will always give my all for this club, who have helped me a lot and always believed in me. I renewed my contract here and I have to do much more for this club.
