Racic: "We have to focus on winning our Copa del Rey game, then the next match"
Uros Racic scored a contender for Goal Of The Season in the match against Atletico Madrid, and opened his LaLiga account in the process. Unfortunately for the Serbian -and for Valencia CF- the game eventually ended 3-1 to the hosts, leaving Racic with mixed feelings after his maiden strike.
"The only positive thing about today is that I scored a goal," he told VCF Media following the final whistle.
"I felt that I was going to score, because I'd been hitting the post and the crossbar a lot recently. The team always help me and give me confidence. Today my first goal in LaLiga arrived, and I hope that I can get more."
The reaction was somewhat muted, however, given the final result.
"I think that we fought hard from the start, not letting the opposition play. Later on, we conceded a very easy goal on the counter from Atletico Madrid. After that we dipped a little, because Atletico Madrid always play to the end; it was difficult to pick ourselves back up after their second goal, because they move the ball around right until the end of the game. We didn't manage to get back into the game."
The midfielder did, however, feel that the performance was good on the whole.
"We started very well and were very close to them. We didn't allow them to play. We also pushed up top, playing very well -including with the ball. We lacked being a little bit stronger, but we have to play like that."
"We have to move on from this and focus on winning in the Copa del Rey, then the next game."
