Raúl Pérez: “We must target the win knowing that the main objective is to develop players"
The b team’s objective is to develop players to bring them through to the first team. “Every time you are within a structure you must work for the first team on what the club or gaffer want.
Success for us is to have two or three players working with the first team beyond the objective of winning promotion so that they break into the first team. Both things go together but we’re clear about what success would be for us (Miguel Angel Angulo’s and the coaching staff. We don’t have to be obsessed with winning. Sometimes, you are not developing. We must do both things but the first thing is to develop players and then winning.
What they need right now is to build up their fitness levels. Despite having played football all their lives they are going to be up against experience players in other conditions that have not much to do neither with the technical abilities nor the attributes that we have.
I’ve coached in a few different Tercera groups and the Valencian Tercera group is one of the strongest that calls for greater demands which will make them grow quicker if they are to adapt to the new division. It’s a challenge for us all and we’re really looking forward to meeting it”.
