Baraja: "tHE TEAM kePT going AND COMPETED UNTIL THE END"
The Valencia CF coach talks after the 2-2 result against Deportivo Alavés
Rodrigo Moreno was akno threat for Valencia CF against Real Madrid, and both hit the post and had a goal controversially ruled out for offside by VAR. He spoke to Spanish television channel Movistar after the game to give his opinions on the contest.
His feelings on the game
"I think that we had a good first half. We had our chances and it's true that the goal that was ruled out was rather doubtful. We aren't having much luck with VAR this year; we've had a lot of doubtful moves being called against us. After their goal in the second half, we really felt it physically and in terms of our morale."
The disallowed goal
"I haven't seen the footage, but on the pitch supposedly the offside was called against Maxi, who wasn't interfering in play. In the end it's down to interpretation; this is the first time that a referee goes to revise an offside, when either it is or not. If even in the VAR room there are doubts... In the end, it's been called and the result is what it is."
The drop in intensity
"After their first goal we weren't able to maintain our intensity. We barely created danger. We know that Real Madrid are a team who can do you a lot of damage, and in the end we also had two fewer players on the pitch. We have to focus on the next game."
Adverse circumstances
"They are what they are. Maxi also ended the game injured, so we will see who is available for the next game. Unfortunately it's a season in which injuries are really hurting us. Before the break we had 6 or 7 players injured every matchday, and now we are likely to be without three players for the next game. We will try to recover and face the next game in the best way possible."
