Sobrino: "I have a good feeling about this season"
Following the game against Brentford FC, Valencia CF striker Ruben Sobrino talked to VCF Media about the match and preseason preparations as a whole.
Preseason work
"It's been useful for the new coaching staff to see a lot of things, and to improve some things that we've been focusing on. Today was another test to see what we do well. There were some things that we did badly in the game that have been working in training, but sometimes that's football. Matches are very different to training sessions. We're going to try to keep improving for the start of LaLiga, which is the most important thing."
The need to compete
"I think that the coaching staff have been emphasising since day one that we go full on. If you don't compete, and you aren't prepared, then any team can do you damage from all sides. "
The game against Getafe
"The next game is the most important thing. You always have to look at the short term. If we start the first matchday well, then the players will have that extra boost. Starting off with three points at home will strengthen us and help us to continue with enthusiasm. We hope to get the three points and keep pushing forward this season."
Preparation for the new campaign
"I have a good feeling about this season. We have worked a lot on the fitness and the tactical sides. We have been reminded of things that we had stopped doing. It helps us to improve a lot and realise that we are the club that we are, and that we have to go out there in every game to win, compete and fight together. Now we just have to carry that over to the field of play."
