On August 7th, Carlos Soler won silver at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, becoming the seventh Valencia CF player in history to achieve an Olympic medal, following in the footsteps of Claudio López, David Albelda, Miguel Ángel Angulo, Ayala, Moretti and Éver Banega.
In a generous act, the Valencia CF midfielder has donated the boots and shirt that he wore when representing Spain to the VCF Foundation. The club's History and Heritage Department will preserve these objects and exhibit them at Mestalla for all Valencianistas to see on the tour of the stadium and museum.
Club president Anil Murthy, who attended the event together with Teo Swee Wei, director of the VCF Foundation, and executive director Joey Lim, praised the latest act of kindness from one of Valencia CF's most successful homegrown talents.
"We are all proud of Carlos Soler's great success with Spain in Tokyo. His silver medal is a great achievement for the team. Soler has Valencia CF DNA and came up through our academy, and now he is our number 10," he told VCF Media.
"He's very good on the pitch, but he's also a very generous person who shares the values of Valencia CF. He is sharing his shirt and boots with us, so that every Valencianista who visits our museum can share this happiness he experienced in Tokyo. This speaks very highly of the player and his values."
