The VCF Academy unveils new mural on Ciudad Deportiva's 29th anniversary
Players from most of the VCF Academy teams will return to training in the coming weeks, and waiting for them at the Ciudad Deportiva will be a new mural with a special message for all of them.
"Destino Mestalla" ("Destination Mestalla") is the motto, with the stadium featuring prominently. Playing at Mestalla is the dream of every youth player in the 13 8-a-side and 8 11-a-side teams who train at the Ciudad Deportiva in their formative years.
The mural has been created and produced by Valencian artist Jorge Lawerta. "Being able to make the mural that future Valencia CF players will go past is a great opportunity for me," he explains to VCF Media. Lawerta has already collaborated with the club on previous occasions.
“The club wanted to decorate the entrance - a key place for all of the VCF Academy players when they come to the Ciudad Deportiva. They wanted to create an iconic place that would serve as motivation and explain what the VCF Academy experience is like, with the path to the first team as the main objective.
The mural has been painted in recent weeks for the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the Ciudad Deportiva this coming Friday. The training ground was inaugurated on February 19th, 1992, as an extension of the initial project bought in the 1970s. One hundred players trained at youth level at the club have made their debut in an official match for Valencia CF.
