match Report: Valiant Valencia CF return to winning ways amidst heartfelt tribute (4-2)
Heartfelt and valiant home win dedicated to the victims and those affected by the flash floods.
A busy week for Valencia CF saw Ferran Torres come to the fore, scoring both in the Champions League against Lille and LaLiga against Granada.
His strike against the latter side was the culmination of an audacious run from his own half, and was such an individual move that his own goalkeeper -Jasper Cillessen- was credited with the assist.
"I received the pass from Jasper, and to start with I didn't know whether to pass it off or not. In the end, I didn't have any other option and had to shoot, and luckily it went in. There's always a bit of good fortune, but it was a goal and helped us to the three points," said Torres after the match.
"Above all, the goal was great because it rounded off a victory and a fantastic week. We've got a few days in which to disconnect, and when we come back we'll be focused on the game against Real Betis."
The 19-year-old will be on international duty with the Spain Under-21s during the break in LaLiga action, and believes that Valencia CF will go from strength to strength when domestic competition returns.
"We knew that Granada had made a good start to the season, and we considered them to be very tough opponents. In the end, our strategy was very good and allowed us to take the three points."
"We're on track to reach the positions that we deserve, which are amongst the best teams in the league. We will try to continue this run."
