The VCF Academy continues to expand its international network and has reached an agreement with Mellieha SC to become a technical partner for the Maltese club.
Through this collaboration, coaches from the VCF Academy will contribute to the running of the club founded in 1947 to promote sport in the population after World War II, whose school has been in operation since 1990.
Valencia CF have made international expansion of the club's values and working methodology a primary focus in recent years. The VCF Academy is one of the best in Europe according to the latest reports from the CIES Football Observatory.
"This agreement with Valencia CF is special, as they are a professional club in Spain, one of the most successful football countries in the world, and are in direct contact with our club and coaches," says Mellieha SC president, Margot Cutajar.
"All of the members of our committee and our coaches are very excited and ready to work hard to improve our Soccer School, taking it to the next level for what can only be a bright future."
Three years ago, one of the young Mellieha SC players participated in a VCF Soccer Camp held in Italy, where the seed was planted for the collaboration.
“This agreement will make Mellieha SC take a step forward,” explains Vicente Roch, Technical Coordinator of the VCF Academy Programs. He recently visited Mellieha SC's facilities to see the work done first-hand.
“The atmosphere is unbeatable for the players. There are great people running the club and the academy, coaches with a strong commitment to improving the player development process, and very involved families."
The structure of the Mellieha SC academy includes men's teams, competing at older ages and learning in the early stages, an increasing number of women's teams and also a team for children with autism -being the only club in the country with such characteristics.
