Valencia CF played versus Getafe CF in the return leg of the Copa del Rey quarter-finals looking to progress to the semi-finals on Tuesday 29th of January on Tuesday at 9.30 pm at Mestalla. Valencia CF had a slow start to the first half as Jorge Molina made it 1-0 to Getafe CF (2-0) on aggregate just forty seconds in putting the ball beyond Jaume Doménech.
Valencia CF tried to get back through a Rodrigo curling snapshot which was pushed away by Chichizola. Dani Parejo had a free-kick over the halfway mark in the first period but his shot went just over the bar. The first half turned feisty with a high tempo.
The first half finished 1-0 to Getafe CF at Mestalla.
Valencia CF came out in the second half looking to score and come back from behind which they almost did though Santi Mina who slotted it away following a great pass from Piccini but the goal was ruled out after a VAR review for offside against Rodrigo.
Rodrigo Moreno made it 1-1 right on the hour mark after a well-worked move between Jose Luis Gayà Denis Cheryshev who provided the return flick squaring into Rodrigo who drilled it in from close range.
Djene was shown the red card for a second yellow following a sweeping challenge on Santi Mina. Valencia CF went all out to try and make the numerical advantage throwing everything they had in the way of danger.
It paid dividends deep into stoppage time with a memorable double from Rodrigo Moreno grabbed a mesmerising hat-trick with two point-blank range goals which sent the Mestalla crowd Rocking and VCF into the Copa del Rey semi-finals.
