Valencia CF, VCF Femenino and the VCF Foundation have shared the limelight with other Valencian clubs at the beginning of the "El Deporte Valenciano Por la Ela" (Valencian Sport For ALS) campaign, held on Wednesday afternoon at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in the regional capital.
The club was represented by Jaume Doménech and Berta Pujadas from the men and women's first teams, and by the director general of the VCF Foundation, Teo Swee Wei.
"El Deporte Valenciano Por la Ela" (Valencian Sport For ALS) is an initiative by the Fundació Luzón (www.deportexela.com) and the "Grupo de Gerentes de Grandes Clubes Deportivos y Sociales", to which numerous clubs, federations and athletes in the region belong.
The campaign, which will take place during November, wants to give visibility to people affected by ALS and raise awareness and raise funds for research.
Jaume Doménech: “It’s a source of pride for me to be here today on behalf of Valencia CF supporting those affected by ALS and their families. It's a very cruel disease, we too have Uzué’s recent case.
We are sending our support and best wishes to ALS patients and we hope that with these kinds of initiatives we can contribute so that they can have a better life by supporting the investigation and breakthroughs against ALS”.
Berta Pujadas: "Being able to participate in campaigns like “El Deporte Valenciano Por la ELA” (‘Valencian Sport For ALS') is a pleasure in order to raise awareness about the people affected by it and help to get funds for research to find a future cure".
